Student Travel Grants
The Department of Computer Science received a generous gift from
Kevin McAuliffe, who received his Ph.D. here in 1986. He expressed
the desire to aid graduate students, and we agreed we would use his
gift to help students to attend conferences to present papers.
To this end we have established the following rules:
- Submit a request for support from the department at least two
weeks before you want a decision, and in any event before the trip,
with:
Title of paper, authors, name and location of the conference,
(ii) A letter of support from a faculty member (email suffices, as does
a copy of the conference program) or the DGS.
- You must also apply for support from the graduate school. (The
goal is add to the funds available, not substitute for them.) Please pay
attention to the limited windows of time for applying for this support.
You do NOT have to have an accepted paper at the time of your application
for the GSAS Travel Grant; you should apply for the grant as soon
as the timeframe allows.
Please provide evidence that you have or will apply for such support.
The GSAS travel grant application is available at: http://gsas.nyu.edu/page/grad.travelgrant
- After your trip, you will need to submit original receipts for
all expenses to be reimbursed to Stephanie Tracy in room 304 WWH.
- Please note that it is anticipated that research advisors will
seek to cover travel expenses from their research grants in the first
instance. To most effectively use the above funds, we aim to use them
to supplement existing resources.
- We anticipate a level of support at $500.00 per conference per
student.
Department travel grant applications should be submitted directly to
the Director of Graduate Studies for the Ph.D. program.
