A number of the class talks were about formal grammars. The attached phrase structure code and java applet uses phrase structure rules to generate music. The example provided is based on the notes in "Mary Had a Little Lamb". Please feel free to modify it. For example, it should be possible to add rests, snippets, chords and other possibilities into the phrase structure rules. There will be a short talk about this code on Monday, June 16.
