You might want to have a look at the work on learning logic and
mathematics of Swiss developmental psychologists Jean Piaget and
Ba"rbel Inhelder. Piaget was close to the intuitionists, and, e.g.
corresponded with George Griss, who wrote on negationless
intuitionistic logic.A good place to start might be Michael A. Arbib,
"A Piagetian Perspective on Mathematical Construction", Synthese 84
(1990),43-58. There is also, e.g. a joint article, written by Evert
Beth and Jean Piaget, "Mathematical Reasoning Cannot be Analysed by
Traditional Syllogistics" in Mathematical Epistemology and Psychology
12 (1974), 6-23.
