In this posting, we give our first reasonable Pi01 statements independent of
large large cardinals.
The statements are simplest for ZFC + {there exists an n-huge cardinal}_n.
With some loss of simplicity, we can handle lots of nontrivial self
embeddings of ranks.
To focus matters, we will use piecewise linear functions as in posting #234.
These developments in no way, shape, or form obsolete BRT.

Let N be the set of all nonnegative integers. For any set V, let V^k be the
set of all k-tuples from V, and V^<k be the set of all tuples from V of
nonzero length < k.
Let T:B^k into N^q, and B,E containedin N^k. We define the upper image of T
on E by
T<[E] = {T(x): x in E and max(T(x)) > max(x)}.
We define |T|:B^k into N by
|T|(x) = |T(x)| = max(T(x)).
Let B containedin N^k, C containedin N^q, and E containedin N. We write
PL(B,C,E) for the set of all piecewise linear transformations T:B into C
over E. These are the T:B into C defined by finitely many cases, where each
case is given by a finite set of linear inequalities with coefficients from
E, and T is given by an affine expression with coefficients from E in each
case.
We use cross section notation T_x, where x is a vector of any nonzero finite
length. Note that dom(T_x) depends on the length of x. If x is too long,
then obviously dom(T_x) = emptyset.
We take min(emptyset) = 0. For x in N^s, we define x! = (x_1!,...,x_s!).
Let R1,...,Rt,S1,...,St be multivariate relations on N, where the arity of
each Ri,Si are the same. Let V,V',E be subsets of N. We say that
W embeds (V,R1,...,Rt) into (V',S1,...,St) over E
if and only if
i) W is a partial function from V into V';
ii) for all x1,...,xn in E, Ri(x1,...,xn) iff Si(W(x1),...,W(xn)), where the
arity of Ri is n.
PROPOSITION 1. For all T in PL([p]^3k,[p]^3,[k]), some nonempty A_0 embeds
(N,A,T<[A^k]) into (N\(8k)!!,A,A') over the min(|T_x!|[A^<k]) > 0.
Proposition 1 is easily seen to be Pi01, since we can bound the A and x!.
THEOREM 2. Proposition 1 is provably equivalent, over EFA, to the
consistency of MAH = ZFC + {there exists an n-huge cardinal}_n. If we remove
\(8k)!! from Proposition 1, the resulting statement is provable in EFA.
