Robert Grosseteste Chancellor of Oxford (1169-1253) discussed orders of 
infinity.  There is an
excerpt  beginning on page 132 of Anne Freemantle's: The Age of Belief
published by New American Library.

"And some infinites are larger than other infinites and some are smaller" 
says Grosseteste as
he begins a discussion of the number of evens and number of odds etc.
