for an expert who is willing to write a 5,000-word encyclopedia
article on mathematics. The article will need to cover all aspects of
mathematics, including mathematics as a language, the difference
between pure math and applied math, the relationship between science
and mathematics, mathematics as a tool for problem solving, current
research in mathematics, etc.  The ideal source would be a professor
or educator who writes well, can provide two writing samples, a list
of publications and a CV. Author must be able to explain mathematics
in simple, clear language, and needs to have written previously on the
subject. Honorarium of $2,000 offered. Microsoft Encarta Encyclopedia
is a multi-media encyclopedia aimed at a target audience of 13 year
olds. Need leads by September 30.
